My Fatherís Cathedral                                 by John Flynn

My fatherís cathedral has many churches
has many temples, has many mosques
My fatherís cathedral has many doorways
Donít try to tell me some doors are locked

My motherís mansion has many houses
has many dwellings, has many rooms
My motherís children are all invited
Who gets to live where? we canít presume

My brotherís fields have beautiful gardens
With many vineyards and many vines
My brotherís fields have many who labor
All those who labor will drink his wine

My fatherís cathedral has many benches
Pews where  the stranger may rest his feet
My fatherís cathedral has many aisles
I donít need an usher, Iíll find my own seat
