8/22/7  We had a real good time in Schwenksville this weekend! I enjoyed playing with a band for the first time in years. My thanks to Abe Guthrie, his son Krishna, and Tim Sears of the band Xavier for coming a long way and adding so much heart to the show! 

Of course it poured most of the day Sunday so it was a much smaller crowd by 7PM than we had hoped for. But the sight of all those smiles peeking out from beneath so many brightly colored ponchos and umbrellas really lifted my spirits.

Thanks to Rotten Dan’s big honkin’ fifth wheeler, the musicians all had a green room to crash in up in the campground. My kids had never camped at the festival before. They really loved all the music and excitement of the campfires each night.

It was also kind of a special weekend in that the Philadelphia Folksong Society and I both turned fifty this year and I got to play at the “birthday party”!  Thanks to Fred Kaiser, Andy Braunfeld, Gene Shay, David Baskin and all the folks at the PFS who have done so much to keep folk music alive and vital in this part of the country!
